Capturing the heritage of Norwich

02nd December 2008
I am delighted to announce the fact that I won the inaugural Norwich 12 competition to capture the special essence of Norwich’s most important buildings. More info can be found at http://www.norwich12.co.uk/

The competition challenged photographers to photograph any or all of 12 of Norwich’s most iconic pieces of architecture.
I won the Norwich Castle category & was also awarded overall competition winner.
Quoting the judges, “Steve Denby’s black & white photograph of Norwich Castle, entitled “Discarded Steps” was the best”.

They called it

“A daring photograph that stood out with its dramatic and film noir qualities. It captures the sinister drama of the iconic Castle and its past. Sitting on top of its mound. The unusual viewpoint is a break in tradition from the more commonly seen images of the castle. An outstanding photograph”

I would like to thank the judges for such kind comments, its words like those that make all the hard work seem worthwhile!
